Three Riversiders named Evans Scholars
Three Riverside residents, all of whom worked as caddies at Riverside Golf Club in North Riverside, have been awarded Evans Scholarships, full-four-year housing and tuition college scholarships by the Evans Scholars Foundation.
Ike Jebb, a senior at Riverside-Brookfield High School, will attend University of Kansas next fall. Also winning scholarships were two Fenwick High School students, Garrett Javors, who will attend University of Michigan, and Dennis O'Bryan, who will attend University of Notre Dame.
The Evans Foundation awards to scholarships to caddies who have a strong caddy record, excel academically, demonstrate financial need and display outstanding character. The scholarship is valued at more than $100,000 over four years.
Since the first Riverside Golf Club caddie was awarded an Evans Scholarship in 1949, there have been 95 Riverside caddies who have graduated as Evans Scholars Alumni.
