Riverside Juniors name 2018-19 officers

The Riverside Junior Woman's Charity, an 81-year-old philanthropic organization focused on local causes, charities and individuals, announced its 2018-19 board of directors in August.

The new board includes Jill Mateo, president; Kerri Bradford, vice president of community outreach; Joanne Schiemann, vice president of operations; Kelly Rehmer, vice president of fundraising; Ashley Prosser, vice president of membership; Jenn Dvorak, treasurer; and Lauren Lendman, secretary.

Last year, with support from individual donors and businesses and more than 1,900 member volunteer hours, the Juniors raised more than $30,000 for local causes and families in need.

Elected

The Illinois Landscape Contractors Association has announced that Tom Lupfer, a Riverside resident, will be its president for 2018-19. Lupfer, who operates Lupfer Landscaping in Lyons, has served on the ILCA board of directors since 2014. He was elected president in June.

Lupfer is a leader in sustainable landscaping and served as chairman of the ILCA's Sustainable Landscaping Committee before joining the board.

Step up to the mike

Riverside Police Chief Thomas Weitzel was a guest speaker at the MADD Illinois Heroes Banquet and Awards Ceremony on Sept. 15 in Springfield.

Weitzel was invited by MADD Illinois Executive Director Sam Canzoneri to address attendees and review the recent wrong-way driving DUI legislation just signed into law by Gov. Bruce Rauner.

On campus

Monica Miscitti, of Riverside, graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater at their commencement ceremony in May.

Gerrand J. Moody, of Riverside, has received a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa.
