A 49-year-old Rockford man who came to the area reportedly looking to have sex with boys was arrested by Riverside police inside Riverside-Brookfield High School on Saturday morning as he watched a boys swim meet from the bleachers inside the pool area.

A high school security staff member called police at 9:45 a.m. on Jan. 12 after confronting Lawrence E. Adamczyk in a hallway that was closed to the public. The 6-foot-2, 250-pound Adamczyk was looked disheveled and carried a large duffel bag across his chest, according to police.

Adamczyk reportedly told the employee that he was there to watch a swim meet, which he would have seen after entering the building through a door near First Avenue on Ridgewood Road.

But the security officer, who was monitoring a group of students in detention, ordered Adamczyk to leave the area and immediately called 911.

Police reported found Adamczyk sitting in the bleachers, watching a swimming invitational featuring a large number of teams. He first told police he had children involved in the meet but couldn't name them.

Officers then removed Adamczyk from the area and into a hallway, where he reportedly confessed he went into the high school to find a boy to have sex with.

Adamczyk's destination was initially Brookfield Zoo, according to police. He had taken the train to downtown Riverside, where he got off and began walking west toward the zoo. However, as he reached the high school, according to Police Chief Thomas Weitzel, Adamczyk said he got a brain wave message from pop singer Justin Bieber to go into the school and look for boys.

"He says he gets messages from Justin Bieber telling him to do different things," said Weitzel, noting that Adamczyk went into explicit detail about the sexual things he wanted to do and acted erratically enough for police to call paramedics to evaluate him. Paramedics transported Adamczyk to MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn, where he was treated for about three hours.

In the meantime, Riverside police learned that Adamczyk was on parole for a 2011 conviction for aggravated battery. On June 27, 2011, St. Charles police arrested Adamczyk at the X-Sport fitness club on Randall Road after he inappropriately touched three men while they were exercising. He also reportedly exposed himself to other patrons in the club.

Adamczyk was given a three-year sentence in that case but was paroled from state prison on Dec. 28, 2012. He reportedly was sent to a halfway house on the South Side of Chicago but was able to leave that facility during the day. He was wearing an electronic monitoring bracelet on his ankle when he was picked up in Riverside.

According to Riverside police, Adamczyk had been arrested in 2005 at Northern Illinois University and in 2009 at a high school in Rockford for similar incidents. However, he has never been required to register as a sex offender.

Riverside police charged Adamczyk with criminal trespass to land and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanors. At a bond hearing on Sunday, a judge set Adamczyk's bond at $25,000.

However, following the Riverside arrest, the Illinois Department of Corrections revoked Adamczyk's parole and issued a no bond warrant for his arrest. That warrant was lodged by Riverside police on Monday.

Lets get it straight there was no one designated as security in the building. The Ada supervisor happen to be part of the security team, but her responsibility on that day was to supervise a classroom not as building security. He simply walked in the main entrance and for whatever reason be arrogance or stupidity confronted the one person who foiled his plans. She may very well have saved a child from being scarred for life. Security needs to a priority this is the world we live in.

Had there been a ban on Justin Bieber this would not have happened. This idiot had no bussiness out on the street's. He should have been placed in the coo coo's nest. Kudos to all security personell involved.

During sports and other events the ration of visitors to students changes significantly. On a smaller scale it would be similar to registering and screening the football stadium. We all need to be awake and aware and unafraid of asking for help from the staff and PD.

Paulette, it was a weekend. The school is manned by a full security guard complement on the weekends, plus, there was a swim meet going on, so the doors to the aquatic area were open so kids and parents alike could attend the meet. Everything worked as planned, with the security guard doing the right thing and the police ensuring that this predator stays behind bars.

MY QUESTION IS HOW DID THIS CRAZY PERSON ENTER OUR SCHOOL?? PEOPLE LETS STOP WAITING FOR SOMETHING TO HAPPEN AND THEN DO SOMETHING WHAT IF THIS SITUATION WAS LIKE ALL THE OTHER SCHOOL SITUATIONS? YES THANK GOD FOR OUR SECURITY BUT HOW CAN A GUY LIKE THIS ENTER OUR SCHOOL WHEN PARENTS CANNOT ENTER WITHOUT FIRST SEEING A SECURITY GUARD OR A STAFF MEMBER AND GETTING A PASS ALONG WITH SHOWING AN ID. SOMEHOW HE GOT IN, LET'S REVIEW THIS SITUATION AND NOT LET IT HAPPEN AGAIN!

If we appreciate the openness of our community school we all must be alert and speak up. The excellent staff has caused several, with a history of drug arrests, to be removed from programs and areas of the building. RPD has a great record of providing service especially with the cooperative administration and RB security staff.

Thanks to RB admin and staff -- especially the training -- and the Riverside Police Department. Great work. Good reminder that security is a 24/7 responsibility.

So much for a monitoring bracelet. And is he registered as a sex offender? And if not why not?

Obviously a very sick man. Thank goodness the security guard dialed 911 before he did any real harm.

Wow!

Kudos to the security guard at the school for recognizing that this guy was "off" and seeing this through by getting RPD involved.
