Teachers' offer at RBHS an ultimatum

What a great offer the REBA at Riverside-Brookfield High School has come up with! It seems like a win-win situation - for the teachers, that is. This is not a proposal but an ultimatum to the taxpayers of Riverside, North Riverside and Brookfield. They are holding the children's education hostage.
If the REBA wants to be "partners" with the community, they should have worked openly with the board and be willing to freeze all pay increases as well as renegotiate benefit packages. It appears teachers' raises are based on seniority and advanced education degrees, and not the quality of education your children are going out into the real world.
What REBA doesn't want decimated is their gravy train cash flow. Mr. Bonnette only thinks he knows the degree of dedication the teachers have, and that it's not a job but a calling. That may have been true 20 to 30 years ago, but as soon as teacher unions began calling for strikes to back their demands, it no longer is a calling.
I'm willing to roll the dice and give them their pieces of gold and vote down the proposed referendum, to get our pound of flesh and put some union members on the unemployment rolls.
