LT boys water polo sends Fenwick home

The Lyons Township boys water polo team sent eight-time defending champion Fenwick packing with a monumental 8-7 win at the York Sectional final on Saturday.

Trailing the Friars 6-3 late in the third quarter, LT (31-2) rallied as Kovas Zygas scored twice to tie the game at 6-6.

After a Dan Kelly goal gave Fenwick a 7-6 advantage, LT junior Joe Shannon netted a pair of goals in the final 1:34 to cap off the huge victory for the Lions, who had beaten Fenwick 8-7 at the Stevenson Invitational during the regular season.

The Friars finished their season with a 31-2 mark.
