Robert M. Cetin, 90, of North Riverside, died on Sept. 1, 2018.

Joseph David Hejna, 26, died suddenly on Sept. 1, 2018 in a car accident in Traverse City, Michigan. 

He graduated in 2014 from Indiana University with a degree in informatics. Joe was the brightest light and the biggest and tallest smile in the room. 

George E. Nicoletti, 92, of LaGrange Park and formerly of North Riverside, has died. He had retired as a 50-year Navistar employee where he had several patents, and he was a past-president of the Italian Catholic Federation. 

Alejandro Eduardo "Alex" Reynoso Prieto, 70, of Riverside and formerly of Mexico, died on Sept. 9, 2018. 

Robert C. Stake, 80, died at his Riverside home on Sept. 7, 2018. 

Brookfield trustees voted unanimously to approve hiring Timothy C. Wiberg as the village's new manager, following a six-month search, at their meeting on Monday, Sept. 10. 

Riverside trustees on Sept. 6 unanimously voted to stop processing applications for vacation rental licenses in the village's residential districts in the wake of complaints from residents near Riverside's lone licensee and an online petition signed by nearly 300 people.

After almost exactly one year on the job, Brookfield Public Works Director Amy Wagner informed Village President Kit Ketchmark that she will be resigning effective Sept. 21 in order to take a new job in the private sector.

In the wake of the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglass High School in Parkland, Florida, in February, Lyons Township High School and the village of LaGrange have teamed up to assign an armed police officer to the LTHS North Campus this year.
