By Bob Uphues
UPDATE: The gas leak has been repaired and stores are again open.

Shoppers were evacuated from the North Riverside Park Plaza strip mall, which includes Tony's Finer Foods, this morning after a construction worker at the Costco site struck a high-pressure gas line.
All streets, including 25th Street, 26th Street and Harlem Avenue, remain open to traffic. However, the strip mall itself remains closed until the gas leak is repaired.
Police said the gas leak was reported at 9:10 a.m. Nicor is on the scene; however, there has been no estimated time given for when the repairs will be completed.
