It's not every day that the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile rolls into town, so when Dennis Tischler found out that the famous tube-shaped vehicle was available to visit his Brookfield grocery store, Tischler Finer Foods, he decided to make the most of it.

"I got an email late last week that the Wienermobile was available if we would like to take advantage of it, so I jumped on it," Tischler said.

The Wienermobile will be in the parking lot of the store, 9118 Broadway Ave., on Friday, March 28 from noon to 5 p.m. While visitors have a look at the Wienermobile, they can also help a local organization that helps feed the needy — the St. Barbara Parish food pantry.

It's the first visit by the famous vehicle, which looks like a hotdog in a bun on wheels.

"I thought, we're going to hopefully get all these people here, let's do something good with it," said Tischler.

While the Oscar Mayer folks pass out their iconic hotdog whistles and rings, Tischler will be selling hotdogs — two for $1. All of the money collected in hotdog sales will go to benefit the food pantry, said Tischler.

And in case you're Catholic and you can't eat meat on a Friday in Lent, you're covered.

"We called [St. Barbara pastor] Father [Bob] Casey, and he has granted dispensation for all Catholics," said Tischler. "As long as you're buying the hotdogs to help the needy, you have dispensation."
