Friars clobber Lindblom
Clock in, clock 'em in the face and clock out. That was the workmanlike approach the Fenwick football team employed in a 42-0 rout of Lindblom Academy at Morton Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

LT forces five turnovers, routs Addison Trail
The Lyons Township football team can score a lot of points and often in bunches. An even scarier thought is the Lions are starting to score on both sides of the ball as shown during their 42-14 win over Addison Trail.

New coach takes over RB swimming
Riverside-Brookfield swimming coach Todd Fridrych left the position after last season to become the Bulldogs' assistant athletic director this year. Luckily, the Bulldogs won't skip a beat with new swimming skipper Heather Mathis at the helm.

No cool off period for Fenwick
Last season the Fenwick girls swim team had plenty of speed in the pool, enough so that the Friars finished third among a strong field at the IHSA State Meet. It doesn't look like the team will be downshifting anytime soon, not with several returners from that state run and a bevy of new and talented swimmers on the team this season.

LT reloaded, ready to make waves
Fresh off another top 10 finish (fourth this decade) at state last fall, the Lyons Township girls swimming program has shown it essentially reloads rather than rebuilds on a yearly basis.

Lemont too much for RB
After dropping their home opener to St. Francis, several Riverside-Brookfield football coaches and players felt the Bulldogs shot themselves in the foot. That rationale didn't apply on Friday night after Lemont rolled to a 42-8 win over RB.

Opening night a bit scary for RB football
Two years removed from a state championship and with only five returning starters, St. Francis reminded everybody - especially Riverside-Brookfield - that the Spartans still know how to win a big game. Spoiling Jason Rech's debut as the new RB head coach, St. Francis rolled to a 34-7 nonconference victory over the host Bulldogs on Friday night.

LT lights up Plainfield Central
Under Lyons Township head football coach Kurt Weinberg's diversified, explosive offensive system, the Lions have shown they can score from virtually anywhere on the field via the pass or run. During Weinberg's first-year at LT in 2009, the Lions averaged 25 points per game.

Friars lose Hart, fall to Notre Dame
Web Extra! Slideshow
Sam Ainsworth showed his worth and Fenwick followed his lead against Notre Dame at Soldier Field on Sunday night. Listed as a 6-foot-4 junior tight end/linebacker, Ainsworth actually replaced injured quarterback Pat Hart (shoulder) and tossed two touchdown passes to rally the Friars from a 13-0 halftime deficit to a 13-13 tie.

Friars return doubles threat
After going 9-1 in the East Suburban Catholic Conference last season, the Fenwick tennis team isn't expected to miss a step this year. The only bad news: 2009 conference leader Benet returns all of its varsity players.
