Brookfield Library Trustee
Preliminary results, reported at 9:23 p.m. showed a tight race for the three trustee positions at the Brookfield Library Board.

The tallies showed Carol Vaughan Kissane in the lead with 3,593 votes, or 30 percent of the vote.

She was followed by Margaret A. Blasage with 26 percent and Judith R. Sweet, capturing 22 percent. Jonathan H. Platt was in fourth place with 21.8 percent, a mere 32 votes behind Sweet.

With a comfortable margin of at least 60 percentage points over opponent Sylvester Hartigan, Mayor Richard N. Scheck won his fifth term in North Riverside.

According to the preliminary reports at 9:30 p.m., Scheck had obtained 1,391 votes, compared to Hartigan’s 336 votes.

Scheck will serve as president for four more years, adding to his 16 year’s worth of experience at the helm of the village.

Scheck was not available for comment.
