Evelyn P. Bain, 78, former factory worker

Evelyn P. Bain (nee Pfaender), a Brookfield resident who formerly lives in Bella Vista, Ariz., and Chicago, died June 7, 2005 at Hinsdale Hospital. She was 78.

Ms. Bain was born April 4, 1927 in Chicago to Ella and William Pfaender. She later married Alexander P. Bain and worked for a manufacturing company. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Ms. Bain is survived by her son, Alexander Bain; her sister, Charlotte (the late Joseph) Wiklacz; her cousin, Bernice Hudepohl; and many other cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service, led by the Rev. Roland Bizer, was held June 11 at Hitzeman Funeral Home in Brookfield. Interment was private.

Gregory N. Fera, 67, barber, painter

Gregory N. Fera, a longtime North Riverside resident, died June 7, 2005 at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood at the age of 67.

Mr. Fera was born in Chicago on Dec. 16, 1937 and attended Fenwick High School in Oak Park. During the 1970s and 1980s, he worked as a barber at Frank’s Barber Shop in Berwyn. He also worked as a painter/decorator.

Mr. Fera is survived by his wife, Arlene (nee Pugliese); his daughters, Patricia (Douglas Theobald) Fera; Donna (David) Meador and Annette (Daniel) McDowell; his grandchildren, Melissa Meador, Madeline McDowell and Vincent McDowell; his sister, Teresa (Frank) Martino; and his brother, Dominic (Mary Lou) Fera.

A funeral Mass was held June 11 at Ascension Church in Oak Park, followed by interment in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Hillside.

Memorial contributions were appreciated to the Kidney Foundation or the American Diabetes Association.

Anthony Nicosia, 65, Brookfield mail carrier

Anthony Nicosia, 65, passed away from a heart attack suddenly Sunday evening, June 5, 2005. Mr. Nicosia was a retired Brookfield mail carrier of 34 years. He was a 21-year resident of Westmont, who in the past 10 years had moved to LaPorte, Ind.

Mr. Nicosia was son of the late Peter Nicosia and the late Sylvia Fremer. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Linda Pavlovic Nicosia; their three children, Mark, Michael (Jeanette) and Kimberly (Jeffery) Hernandez; five grandchildren; his brother, Gerald Nicosia; his niece, Amy and nephew, Peter. A funeral service was held June 10 at Hobson Road Community Church in Downers Grove, followed by interment in Clarendon Hills Cemetery.
