The Riverside-Brookfield Bulldogs splashed their way to first place at the Suburban Prairie (East) Conference Meet on Saturday.

Sara Martinek led RB, swimming to first place in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:16.06, as well as 100-yard freestyle in :54.97.

Natalie Pike took first in the 50-yard free (:25.76), while Megan St. John won the 500-yard free in 5:14.72.

The Bulldogs garnered a total team score of 318. Oswego (259) and Plainfield (207) rounded out second and third places, respectively.

Pigskin put away time for LT

The Lyons Township football season came to an end on Saturday following a 39-10 loss to eighth-ranked Fremd in the first round of the Class 8A playoffs.

The Lions close out the season with a 5-4 overall record.

Simpson continues to dominate

Jane Simpson continued to dominate the cross-country running game on Saturday when the sophomore placed fifth overall at the Niles West Sectional and helped her team advance to the IHSA State tournament

The Lions placed second overall with a total score of 69, just two shy of first place finishers York.

Simpson’s time of 18:21, was followed by Katie Flaherty’s 18:30 for seventh place. Other top finishers for Lyons included: Keegan Kilrea (15th place, 18:43), Lauren Mitchell (20th, 18:51), and Meggie McDonald (30th, 19:08).

The Lions advance to the State tournament to be held at Detweiller Park in Peoria this weekend.

Boys cross-country: The LT boys faired just as well as the girls’ team, finishing third (146) at Niles West and advancing to State.

Jacob Nachel led the Lions, finishing seventh overall in 15:04.

Cusack leads Lions in pool

Ashley Cusack led the LT swim team to second place at the West Suburban (Silver) Conference Meet on Saturday.

Cusack took first place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:57.32.

The Lions finished with a total score of 256, runner-up to Hinsdale Central’s 314.
