On Nov. 11, Brookfield police personnel, in conjunction with the Major Case Assistance Team (MCAT) and the Countryside Police canine unit arrested a man suspected of dealing drugs from his Lyons apartment.
Acting on a search warrant, police raided the apartment of Morris E. Carter III, 54, at 8516 W. 47th St., Lyons, and reportedly seized over 1,000 grams of cannabis, over 100 grams of cocaine and over $13,500
in cash.
Carter was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, a Class X felony, punishable by between six and 30 years in prison if convicted. He was also charged with unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia.
In a bond hearing before Judge Gregory Ginex on Nov. 14, bond was set at $1 million. Carter, currently in Cook County Jail, awaits a Dec. 7 court date at Maybrook.
