Catherine L. Fischer, 91, Brookfield resident
Catherine L. Fischer (nee Emsel), 91, a Brookfield resident, died Dec. 17, 2005 at Mariner Health Care in Westchester.
Ms. Fischer was born Oct. 2, 1914 to Joseph and Apolonia (nee Resch) Emsel. She marred Anton Fischer, who preceded his wife in death, and worked as a cafeteria server prior to her retirement.
She is survived by her daughter, Arlene (Donald) Steinhagen; her sons, William (Inge) Fischer and Robert (Pamela) Fischer; her grandchildren, Jon Steinhagen, Donna Roth, Steven Steinhagen, Patrick Fischer and Jennifer Fischer; and her great grandchild, Jackson Roth.
A funeral service, officiated by the Rev. Daniel O’Sullivan, was held Dec. 19 at Hitzeman Funeral Home, Brookfield, followed by interment at Glen Oak Cemetery, Hillside.

Muriel A. Kerger, 82, Active church volunteer
Muriel Audrey Kerger (nee Towler), 82, Glen Ellyn resident and former North Riverside resident, died Dec. 17, 2005 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.
Ms. Kerger was born Nov. 22, 1923 to Sidney H. and Victory Towler in Chicago. She married Donald P. Kerger, and was devoted to her five children and 13 grandchildren. She was an active member of Mater Christi Church in North Riverside, where she led many charitable fundraisers. She also worked for the Lions Club International Foundation in Oakbrook for many years.
Ms. Kerber was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her daughter, Gail Knowles; her sons, Craig, Randy, Cary and Brent Kerger; her brothers, Ken and Charles Towler; her sister, Gladys Konvalinka; and 13 grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 21 from 3 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, Dec. 22 from 8:30 to 9 a.m. at Hitzeman Funeral Home, 9445 31st St., Brookfield. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, Dec. 22 at 9:30 a.m. at Mater Christi Church, 2431 S. 10th Ave., North Riverside, followed by entombment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
Jon F. Oleszynski, 56, Computer consultant
Jon F. Oleszynski, 56, a North Riverside resident and former resident of Mundelein, died Dec. 12, 2005 at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.
Mr. Oleszynski was a computer consultant who owned his own North Riverside-based company, Xanadex Computer Consulting.
He is survived by his parents, Felix and Pauline (nee Winchenbach) Oleszynski; his brother, Steven (Joyce) Cory; his sister, Janis Riedl; his nephew, Michael Cory; and his niece, Susannah Riedl.
A funeral service was held Dec. 16 at Kuratko Funeral Home, North Riverside, followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Forest Park.
Memorial contributions were appreciated to the Sierra Club or any other environmental organization.
