Hauser Junior High School musicians were recognized for excellence at the annual Hauser Solo Contest on Jan. 21. Each of the students played a solo piece of music from memory for judges, who then rated the musicians on their performances.
Winners at the event will be featured at the Hauser Performing Arts show on Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. at the school, 65 Woodside Road in Riverside.
Vocal winners were Chris Halline and Sarah Dudek, with honorable mentions going to Nathan Smith and Taylor Dalton. Piano performance winners were Eric Din and Vija Lietuvninkas.
Orchestra winners were violinists Alex Krug and Christina Hitt, with honorable mentions to Louise Gangware and Audrey Wenzel. The Band winner was oboist Olivia Toriumi.
