Referendums are never something to look forward to. No one wants to pay more taxes. Yet, we are all thrilled at the way our property values have skyrocketed over the last few years.

There are a number of reasons for this, and one of the most important is the success our children are having at Riverside-Brookfield High School.

These unbelievable accomplishments have been recognized nationwide. At last, Riverside has outstanding educational opportunities for its children from kindergarten through high school. This is one of the biggest reasons parents are willing to pay a premium price to live and educate their children in Riverside.

Why then is there any question about supporting the referendum? We are offering top-of-the-line programs in an outdated and inefficient environment. Think what could happen if our children had the labs for science and computers that our rivals to the west can offer.

We are talking about putting approximately $5 per week into a modern and efficient school that will serve us well for the next 25 years. That does not seem like a lot to ask after what the achievements at RB are doing for us all. Let’s not return to the past when RB was considered sub-par.
