Steven P. Jurceka, 43, Construction Company owner
Steven P. Jurceka, a life-long resident of North Riverside, died April 3, 2006 at his home. He was 43.

Mr. Jurceka graduated from Riverside-Brookfield High School in 1981 and was a member of Carpenters Union Local #363. He owned the Jurceka Construction Company. He also loved spending time at his home in Wisconsin, where he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his brother, Gary (Kim) Jurceka; his sister, Sandra Jurceka and Laura (Tim) Greenwald; and his nieces and nephews, Eric Greenwald, Krista Greenwald, Alyssa Greenwald, Nicole Jurceka and Brent Jurceka.

A funeral service was held April 6 at Kuratko Funeral Home, North Riverside, followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Forest Park.

Charles E. Plasketes, 79, Retired from International Harvester
Charles E. Plasketes, 79, a longtime resident of North Riverside involved in many area organizations, died April 2, 2006 at his home.

For many years, Mr. Plasketes worked as a cost accountant at the nearby International Harvester plant, but was also involved in other local groups.

He was a member and past president of the Mater Christi Church Holy Name Society, a former member of the Riverside-Brookfield High School Booster Club and a 16-year volunteer at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where he earned a MAGIS Award for extraordinary service.

Mr. Plasketes was also an avid golfer who once shot a hole-in-one.

He is survived by his wife, Rita Plasketes; his son, George (Julie) Plasketes; his daughters, Laura Plasketes and Lynette (David) Piekarski; and his grandchildren, Anais Plasketes, Rivers Plasketes, Chandler Piekarski and Alexa Piekarski.

A funeral Mass was celebrated April 5 at Mater Christi Church in North Riverside, followed in interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.

Joanne E. Snyders, 73, Insurance company sales clerk
Joanne E. Snyders (nee Kacsur), 73, died April 5, 2006 at her home in Brookfield.

Born in Chicago on Sept. 23, 1932 to Joseph and Anna (nee Balla) Kacsur, she married Charles E. Snyders, and raised seven children. She was employed as a sales clerk at an insurance company.

Ms. Snyders is survived by her husband, Charles E. Snyders of Brookfield; her daughters, Kathy (Rich) Leiter, Karen (Robert) Youngsma, Sandi Steinhaus and Sue (Robert) Coon; her sons, Charles J. (Pamela) Snyders and Joseph (Mary) Snyders; her sister, Dorothy (Raymond) Leschyk; 16 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and by her son, Ken Snyders.

A funeral Mass was celebrated April 8 at St. Louise de Marillac Church in LaGrange Park. Memorial contributions were appreciated to the Loyola Hospice, 2160 S. First Ave., Maywood, Ill. 60153.

Evelyn E. Srb, 86, Brookfield homemaker
Brookfield resident Evelyn E. Srb, a homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren, died April 8, 2006 at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood. She was 86 years old.

A former resident of Clarendon Hills who enjoyed crocheting, Ms. Srb and her husband, Edward G. Srb, moved to Brookfield in 1981. Mr. Srb preceded his wife in death on Feb. 18, 2006.

She is survived by her daughters, Judy (the late Ted) Jage and Susan (Charles) Miller; her brother James Schaffer; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her son, George Srb.

A funeral service was held April 8 at Johnson Funeral Home, Brookfield, followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery, Justice.
