Helen L. Herron, 89, Brookfield homemaker

Helen Herron, 89, a Brookfield resident and longtime former resident of Big Stone Gap, Va., died July 1, 2006 at her Brookfield home.

Ms. Herron, born in 1917, spent the first 81 years of her life in Big Stone Gap, where she was a homemaker and raised eight children. She moved to Brookfield after the death of her husband, Howard Herron, in 1998. In addition to crocheting and knitting, she most enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with her 20 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She is survived by her sons, Ronald (Gail) Woodward, Merle (the late Linda) Woodward Jr., Howard “Eugene” (Fran) Herron and Jack (Linda) Herron; her daughters, Delores (Jack) Ramsey and Mary Ann (James) Selig; her brothers, Jimmy McFalls and Junior McFalls; and her sisters, Betty Messer, Marie Pleasant and Mary Lee Kimberlin.

Ms. Herron was preceded in death by her sons, Charles (the late Arleen) Woodward and Harold (Annette) Woodward.

A funeral service was held July 3 at Johnson Funeral Home, Brookfield, followed by interment at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens in Big Stone Gap, Va.

Wayne E. Koutsky, 66, Retired from moving business

Wayne E. Koutsky, a resident of Brookfield for 46 years, died July 7, 2006 at his home. He was 66.

Mr. Koutsky was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and worked for 40 years for the Boerman Moving & Storage Company in Brookfield and Woodridge. He retired in 2002 and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his sister, Ila (George) Lukes; his brother, Ed (Liz) Koutsky; his nieces, Shari (Geno) Skrocki and Shanna (Kevin) Barnes; and his great nephews, Jayme Skrocki and Tyler Barnes. Mr. Koutsky was preceded in death by his parents, Edmund and Marion (nee Seefeldt) Koutsky; his brother, Eugene Koutsky; and his sister, Germaine Koutsky.

Funeral services were private. Johnson Funeral Home, Brookfield, handled arrangements.

Disney L. Pfeiffer, 39, North Riverside resident

Disney L. Pfeiffer, 39, of North Riverside and formerly of Cicero, died July 11, 2006 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

Mr. Pfeiffer was born Oct. 21, 1966 in Berwyn. He is survived by his parents, John W. and Donna M. Pfeiffer.

Gladys Sundquist, 75, North Riverside resident

Gladys “Viki” Sundquist (nee Vacek), 75, died July 12, 2006 at her North Riverside home.

She is survived by her children, Erik Sundquist and Victoria (Herbert) Siegl; her grandchildren, Thorson, Thaleia, Bjorn, Quinn and Zoe; and her sister Mildred (Edward) Schultz. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mildred Vacek, and her brother Robert (Georgiana) Vacek.

A funeral service was held July 16 at Kuratko Funeral Home, North Riverside. Interment was private.
