Denis Casey, 75, Loyola Hospital elevator operator
Denis C. Casey, 75, died on July 20, 2006 in his North Riverside home. Mr. Casey served as an elevator operator at Loyola Hospital until his retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Maureen Casey (nee Hastings); his sons, Denis (Jennifer) Casey, Kevin Casey, and Brian Casey; his grandsons, Patrick and Matthew; and his sisters-in-law, Peggy Mangan and Phyllis Hastings.

Visitation was held July 24 at Kuratko Funeral Home. Services were held July 25 at Kuratko Funeral Home and St. Mary Church.

Thomas Cerkez, 87, pharmacist, owned Cerkez Drugs
Thomas J. Cerkez, 87, died on July 22, 2006 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Naperville. Born in Berwyn, he also lived in LaGrange Park. A graduate of Farragut High School and the University Of Illinois College Of Pharmacy, Mr. Cerkez was the owner and pharmacist of Cerkez Drugs in Little Village, Chicago for 38 years. He also served in the Navy during World War II and was an active volunteer at the LaGrange Senior Center-West Suburban Center.

He is survived by his son, Thomas (Mary) Cerkez; his daughter, Elaine M. (Gary) Raymond; his grandchildren, Samantha, Nathan, Samuel, and Tova; and his niece, Judith Cizek. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine (nee Fleishman).

Visitation was held on July 25 and Wednesday, July 26. Services will be held at St. Pius X Church on Wednesday, July 26.

George Collier, 85, Amana sales representative
George J. Collier, 85, died on July 18, 2006. Born on Sept. 6, 1920 in Marshfield, Wis., Mr. Collier served in the U.S. Army in WWII and was a sales representative for Amana, the appliance manufacturer.

Mr. Collier is survived by his wife, Frances C. Collier; his daughter, Monica (Julius) Gyorke; his grandchildren, Shawn, Christopher, and Janine; his great-grandchildren, Valerie and Melanie; and his brother William (Frances) Collier.

Visitation was held on July 20 and 21 at Hitzeman Funeral Home Ltd. Services were held at St. Louise de Marillac Church on July 21.

Terry Demchuck, 46, Sales rep, Kaman Industrial Technologies
Terry D. Demchuck, 46, of Brookfield, formerly of Addison, died on July 21, 2006. Born in LaGrange, he worked in sales at Kaman Industrial Technologies.

He is survived by his mother, Sharon L. (Smith) Demchuck; his son, Jeffrey; and his sisters, Jennifer R. Demchuck and Michelle Demchuck-Kays. He was preceded in death by his father, George J. Demchuck.

Family and friends will be gathering at Hitzeman Funeral Home Ltd. on Saturday, July 29 from 1 to 2 p.m. Memorial services will be held at Hitzeman Funeral Home at 2 on the same day.

Kristine Schwendt, 71, co-owner of Heart’s Desire antique shop
Kristine S. Schwendt, 71, of Brookfield, died on July 15, 2006. Kris lived in Brookfield and enjoyed gardening, cooking, antiquing, and dining out. She was a homemaker and co-owner of Heart’s Desire Antique Shop for 22 years.

Mrs. Schwendt is survived by her husband, Edwin Schwendt; her daughters, Jill (William) Pruett and Susan (Michael) Hull; her son, Thomas (Eileen) Schwendt; her grandchildren, Emma, Erich, Evan, Kevin, and Colin; her brothers, Peter (Fran) Swano and William (Linda) Swano; and her sisters, Ann (Russell) Jablonski and Kay (Michael) Rosati.

Hildegarde Sedlar, 91, United Airlines executive secretary
Hildagarde M. Sedlar, 91, died on July 23, 2006. Born in Hobart, Ind., Mrs. Sedlar was a retired executive secretary for United Airlines. She was also active in her community as a member of the Hollywood School PTA, a den mother for Brookfield Cub Scouts, and a member of St. Barbara’s Senior Club.

Mrs. Sedlar is survived by her sons, Mike (Laura) and Jim Sedlar; her grandchildren, Michele, Christopher, Christina, Daniel, and Matthew; her great-grandchildren, Caitlin and Rhiannon; her brother, James (Mimi) Kucaba; and her sister, Frances Donofrio.

Visitation will be held at Hitzeman Funeral Home Ltd. on Wednesday, July 26 from 2 to 9 p.m. and at the same location on July 27 from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Services will be held at St. Barbara Church on Thursday at 11 a.m.

Sandra Tomas, 62, asst. deli manager, Tischler Foods
Sandra Rose Tomas, 62, of Brookfield died on July 20, 2006. Mrs. Tomas worked as assistant deli manager of Tischler Finer Foods in Brookfield until her retirement.

Mrs. Tomas is survived by her husband, Charles; her children, Allen Kalas, Annemarie (Joseph) Rossetti, Gina Tomas, and Nicole Deubel; her grandchildren, Devon, Shannon, Joseph, Christina, Courtney, Corbin, Vanessa and Vince; her sister, Linda (Steve) Nejdi; her nephews, Timothy Baron and Steve Garoza; and her nieces, Tammy Yates and Nicole (Armando) Medina.

Visitation was held on July 23 at Kuratko Funeral Home. Services were held July 24.
