The Riverside Minors Mets (ages 9-10), sponsored by Riverside Garage, capped off an 18-1 season with an 11-0 victory over the White Sox in the Riverside Minors Tournament Championship. The pitching staff of Ben Chmura, Ben Pollock, Brendan Sedivy, and Jake Vaia led the team through the three-round tournament with strong hitting support provided by Zach and John Mieczkowski and Billy Korslund. The championship game was highlighted by a four-inning, one-hit, 12-strikeout performance by Chmura. The Mets advanced through the tournament with a 4-1 hard-fought victory over the Marlins in the first round and a 14-7 victory over the Red Sox in the semifinals.
