The RB tennis team finished first at its own invitational on Saturday.
The Bulldogs captured a score of 42 by sweeping the No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles matches.
Olivia Garza won the No. 1 singles title by defeating East Aurora’s Shannon Root 6-2, 6-2. Giulia Bova and Brittany Hite slipped past teammates Alexis Adams and Judy Krolasik to win at No. 1 doubles.
Elk Grove finished a distant second with a score of 29, while East Aurora (23) and Addison Trail (14) rounded out third and fourth places respectively.
LT girls golf
The Lyons Township girls golf team went 1-1 last week, falling to York 173-188 but picking up a victory over Hinsdale South 183-204.
Mariel Skoda medaled against Hinsdale South by shooting a 44.
In previous matches, the Lions defeated Downers Grove North 183-213. Katie Ellis led the charge by medaling with a 40. Others who contributed to the victory included Lindsay Purpura (47), Kyle Hopwood (48), Rachael Johnson (48), Madeline Gosz (49), and Alyssa Lies (50).
The Lions tied the school’s best score in a match when they defeated Oak Park 173-214 a few weeks ago. Hopwood scored a 42 in that victory, while Purpura finished with a 43. Ellis and Lies both finished with 44s.
On Saturday, the Lions finished third at the Eagle Classic with a final score of 352. York finished first with a 343.
Fenwick swimming
After defeating cross-town rival Oak Park 118-62 earlier in the week, the Friars finished second (521 points) at their own invitational on Saturday.
Ryan Kelly led the Friars by winning the 200-yard freestyle in 1:56.36 and the 100-yard backstroke in 1:00.34. Kelly was also a part of the 400-yard freestyle relay squad that finished first in 3:39.09. Stephanie Ovalle, Casey Dollard and Veronica Gibson were the other members of that group.
St. Charles North finished first with 546 points.
Fenwick volleyball
Fenwick defeated area-rival Trinity 25-13, 25-19 last week.
Sarah Hunt led the way with seven kills and four blocks, while Jenna Vondrasek added 17 assists. Carri Soukal contributed 10 digs in the win.
The Friars lost to Carmel 21-21, 25-19 last week despite 10 kills from Hunt.
But the team dominated St. Joseph 25-12, 25-18. Vondrasek dished out 20 assists in that win, while Kelly Brennan tallied eight kills and eight digs. Hunt finished with six aces and nine kills.
Fenwick soccer
The Fenwick soccer team bounced back from a 2-1 loss to Mt. Carmel by shutting out Notre Dame 2-0.
Albano Latifi and Alex Holterman scored for the Friars (6-5-1, 1-1).
In the loss to Mt. Carmel, Will Rigali scored Fenwick’s lone goal with an assist by Mark Finan.
The Friars also edged St. Ignatius 2-1 in overtime last week. Jack Alberts scored the game-winner on an assist by Matt Parrilli, who scored Fenwick’s first goal. Latifi assisted on Parrilli’s goal.
