The owner of a Brookfield car wash will have to wait a little bit longer before renovating his business. William Klump, owner of Brookfield Express Car Wash at 9545 Ogden Ave., said that work to update and expand the automatic car wash facility won’t begin until next spring.
According to Klump, Cook County paperwork regarding curb cuts on Eberly Avenue is the reason for the delay. He has all the building permits he needs from the village and from the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District.
But with the Cook County paperwork still being wrapped up and winter inching ever closer, Klump said he didn’t want to break ground at this time.
“We’re putting it off until April 5,” Klump said.
After work begins next spring, Klump said he expects the renovated car wash to reopen by July 4.
Meanwhile, Brookfield Express Car Wash remains open and fully operational. Both the automatic wash and self-serve bays will be open throughout the winter. Once construction begins in the spring, the self-serve bays will remain open while the tunnel for the automatic washing operation is being built.
