Marcos S. Gonzalez, 89, Dana Corp. retiree

Marcos S. Gonzalez, 89, of Riverside, and formerly of Berwyn, died Jan. 4, 2010.

Mr. Gonzalez was born Oct. 14, 1920. He was married to Bertha Gonzalez (nee Mendiola), who survives her husband, and worked as a material handler at the Dana Corporation in Cicero prior to retirement.

He is also survived by his children, Mary Naomi-Vela Gonzalez, Marcos David (Vicki) Gonzalez, Jaime (Judy) Gonzalez, Javier (Hilda) Gonzalez, Elizabeth (Gil) Barreto, Bertha Eunice Gonzalez and Daniel (Maria) Gonzalez; 14 grandchildren; and his brother, Eddie (Maria) Gonzalez.

A funeral service was held Jan. 9 at Kuratko-Nosek Funeral Home in North Riverside, followed by interment at Forest Home Cemetery in Forest Park.

Elsie B. Jankovsky, 97, Former North Riverside resident

Elsie B. Jankovsky (nee Rehor), 97, of Peoria, and formerly of North Riverside and Light House Point, Fla., died Jan. 1, 2010.

Born on Aug. 31, 1912 on a farm near Kirwin, Kan., to Anton and Maria Potuzak Rehor, she was the second of five daughters. She received her high school diploma in Kansas before coming to Cicero in the early 1930s.

She married Otto E. Jankovsky on June 6, 1936. They were married for 47 years before Mr. Jankovsky died on Nov. 21, 1983. The couple moved to Light House Point, Fla., in 1964, and Ms. Jankovsky resided there for 44 years.

Ms. Jankovsky is survived by her son, William (Pat) Jankovsky; her grandchildren, Kim (Nik) and Michael (Susan); her great grandchildren, Grace, Luke and Elle; and her sister, Martha.

A funeral service was held Jan. 5 at Kuratko-Nosek Funeral Home, North Riverside, followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.

Shirley A. Kraft, 81, North Riverside homemaker

North Riverside resident Shirley A. Kraft (nee Waindle), a former resident of Berwyn, died Jan. 4, 2010.

She was born on April 6, 1928 and married William Kraft Jr., who preceded his wife in death. Ms. Kraft is survived by her children, Cheryl Sayatovic and Jeff (Lois) Sayatovic; her grandchildren, William (Marta) Sayatovic, Jeffrey Sayatovic and Christopher Sayatovic; and her great grandchildren, Kayli and Alyssa Sayatovic.

Ms. Kraft was preceded in death by her sister, Joan (James) Pitelka. Services have been held.

Barbara M. Rutherford, 75, Bosch Co. employee

Brookfield resident Barbara M. Rutherford (nee Duckett), died Jan. 1, 2010.

Born July 8, 1934, Ms. Rutherford worked in the mail department at the Robert Bosch Company in Broadview.

She is survived by her children, Robert M. Fajdich and Dawn Fajdich; her grandson, Nicholas A. Fajdich; and her sister, Joyce Antonich. She was preceded in death by her brother, Warren (Mary) Duckett.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Jan. 7 at St. Barbara Church in Brookfield.

Frederick A. Tomzik, 85, Father of local pastor

Frederick A. Tomzik, 85, a resident of Norridge, died Dec. 25, 2009 at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.

A machinist by profession, Mr. Tomzik is survived by six children, the Rev. Fred Tomzik, who is pastor of St. Louise de Marillac Church in LaGrange Park; John (Kathy) Tomzik, Janice (Rick) Vercillo, Philip Tomzik, Steven (Peggy) Tomzik and David (Kristine) Tomzik. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and his brother, Frank Tomzik.

Richard W. Vance, 50, Warehouse worker

Richard W. Vance, 50, a resident of Lisle, died Jan. 6, 2010 at his home.

Born June 11, 1959 to Richard P. Vance and Arlene (nee Schimpf) Passero, Mr. Vance worked loading trucks at a warehouse prior to his death.

He is survived by his mother, a North Riverside resident; his siblings, Joann (Tony) Zapotocky and Marlene Cooper; his nephews, Tony F. Zapotocky, Tim A. Zapotocky and John F. Cooper; and his aunt and uncle, Diane and William Schimpf. He was preceded in death by his father and his stepfather, Frank Passero.

A funeral service was held Jan. 11 at Hitzeman Funeral Home in Brookfield, followed by interment at Bronswood Cemetery in Oakbrook.
