Riverside‘s village board will convene a strategic planning session on Saturday, Feb. 27, at the Discovery Center at Brookfield Zoo,

3300 Golf Road
. The meeting, which will begin at and is expected to last for several hours, is open to the public.


The meeting will be taped by a crew from the Riverside Cable Commission. While it won’t be shown live, the meeting will be aired.


According to Village Manager Peter Scalera, the strategic planning session will be wide-ranging and will likely touch on topics including village finances, downtown development, village departments and how they influence the goals of the board, improving communication and partnering with other local agencies and schools.


The session will be led by Dean Eitel, a professor and assistant director of the
School of Public Service at DePaul University.


Anyone wishing to attend the meeting can enter the zoo at the
South Gate through

Golf Road
, adjacent to Riverside-Brookfield High School, and will be directed to the parking area near the Discovery Center.


There is no cost to enter or park at the zoo for the purpose of attending the strategic planning meeting.
