The Riverside-Brookfield volleyball team pushed its overall record to 11-8 with a hard-fought 32-30, 25-18 victory over Elmwood Park last week.

Megan Walsen led the Bulldogs with seven kills, while Erin James tallied 10 digs.

Riverside-Brookfield is now 4-4 in the Metro Suburban Conference.

RB boys golf

The Bulldogs finished third at the Metro Suburban Conference tournament last week, garnering a score of 336. Kris Strnad led RB with an 80, while Jack Kemper shot an 81. Other scores for RB included Mike Le Beau (85), Mike Hornung (90), Max Recht (91), Brett Hoyd (92), Austin Adamec (92) and Luca Melone (93).

Glenbard South won the tournament with a score of 323.

RB boys soccer

The Bulldogs romped all over Metro Suburban Conference foe Timothy Christian 5-2 last week. Ruben Chavez scored two goals for RB, while Eddie Marentas, Caye Chavez and Tyler Polanski each scored one apiece.

Also last week, Ruben Chavez scored three goals in RB’s 7-1 pummeling of Elmwood Park.

Fenwick swimming

The Friars finished fourth at a stocked Sandburg Invitational on Saturday. Mimi Schneider won the 50-yard freestyle in 24.88 seconds. She also finished third in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:01.00. Schneider also helped the medley relay team to third place with a time of 1:52.08.

Paulina Kaminski finished third in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.09) and the 200 individual medley (2:12.48).

Fenwick tennis

The Friars won their third consecutive title at the Jacobs Invitational on Saturday. Fenwick edged Jacobs and Maine South to finish with 42 points to lead the eight-team field.

Fenwick sealed the victory by taking 2 of 3 championship matches. Audrey Kiefer and Christina Janda defeated Jacobs 6-3, 6-3 in doubles action. Catherine Joss and Julia Mastrangeli won at No. 2 doubles with a hard-fought 1-6, 6-3, (10-7) victory.

Earlier in the week, the Friars lost a competitive dual meet to York. Fenwick’s Mia Sullivan won a handy 6-3, 6-1 decision over York’s No. 2 Shelby Kost, and although York carried both doubles matches, the Friars finished respectable.

Janda and Kiefer jumped out to a 4-1 lead, but ended in a 7-5, 6-2 loss at No. 1, and Joss and Mastrangeli were practically even with York in a 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (8-6) loss.

LT soccer

The Lions picked up wins over Reavis and Hinsdale Central last week, pushing their record to 12-1-2.

Kyle Kurfirst led Lyons in both victories, scoring two in a 7-1 win over Reavis and two in a 3-2 win over Hinsdale Central.

Lyons entered the week 3-0 in West Suburban (Silver) Conference play.

RB tennis

The RB tennis team placed first at the Leyden Invitational on Saturday, scoring wins over Argo, 5-2, Willowbrook, 7-0, and the host, 4-3.

Mollie Quealy went undefeated at No. 3 singles. The No. 1 doubles pair of Nina Waszak and Haley St. Paul, and the No. 3 doubles pair of Joanna Keen and Madison Powers also won all their matches.
