Ron Malchiodi, Riverside’s director of parks and recreation, announced last week that Teresa Mrozik has been hired as the department’s new program coordinator. Mrozik started work Nov. 17.
For the past four years, Mrozik served as a program coordinator for the Joliet Park District. In Joliet, according to Malchiodi, she managed summer day camps, gymnastics, tumbling, adult programs and senior citizen trips. While her new job in Riverside will be similar, Malchiodi said, it will be a more hands-on position.
“It’s in the same capacity, but with an expanded role,” Malchiodi said. “It’s a little more hands-on here and she’ll be in charge of programming.”
Mrozik was chosen from a list of three finalists and was one of more than 50 people who applied for the position, Malchiodi said. She’ll be paid $40,000 per year. Mrozik has a bachelor’s degree in leisure studies and is pursuing a master’s degree in recreation management from the University of Illinois.
