A memorial service for Judith A. Votisek (nee Schweisthal), 62, will be held Saturday, Dec. 11 at 11 a.m. at Kuratko-Nosek Funeral Home, 2447 Desplaines Ave. in North Riverside, with a memorial visitation from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Ms. Votisek, a former resident of Aurora, died Nov. 11, 2010, after a battle with brain cancer.
She was born in 1948 to Herman and Agnes Schweisthal, and had a lifelong passion for libraries. She earned a master’s degree in library science and subsequently taught and served as a school librarian in Chicago before moving to Colorado with her family.
There she became executive director of the Colorado Library Association. In 1990, Ms. Votisek moved to the Bay Area in California, working as a technical librarian in the private sector and creating internal libraries, the last of which was for Adobe Systems.
Ms. Votisek is survived by her husband of 35 years, Jim Votisek; her children, Matt (Linda) and Kristin (Bret Fischer); and her grandchildren, Vanessa and Grayson.
