Charles M. Smetak, 59, of Brookfield, died Feb. 2, 2011.
Mr. Smetak was an avid musician who played the bass guitar and produced studio recordings. He played bass in several bands and was a founding member of the Chicago Express Blues Band.
He is survived by his brothers, Robert (Nancy) Smetak and Thomas Smetak; his nephew, David Smetak; and his best friend, Ron (Chris) Minor.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, Feb. 9 from 3 to 9 p.m. at Hallowell & James Funeral Home, 1025 W. 55th St. in Countryside. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 10, followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery in Forest Park.
