The Riverside-Brookfield volleyball team picked up a pair of road wins at Illiana Christian and Fenwick last week.

Trailing Illiana Christian in both games, RB rallied twice against the Vikings. The team was fueled by the strong play of Mack Fieseler (10 kills, 2 digs) and Trent Baer (5 kills). Six-foot-9 Alex Dziagwa added five kills and four blocks.

Riverside-Brookfield (12-5) also beat Fenwick 25-18, 25-15 last week as Ben Bergstrom had six kills and Fieseler chipped in four. Elliot Louthen paced the offense with 12 assists and three aces. Middle hitters Joe Niemiec, Joe Sauer, Jack McCarthy and Dziagwa also played well against the Friars.

RB tennis

The Bulldogsf boys tennis team split a pair of dual matches, losing to Illiana Christian 5-2 but defeating Fenton 4-3.

LT baseball

The red-hot Lions ran their winning streak to 11 by sweeping a doubleheader against West Suburban (Silver) Conference rival Hinsdale Central on Saturday. Lyons (14-1, 8-0) won the opener 1-0 courtesy of Brian Rodemoyerfs RBI bloop single that scored Tom Walsh in the sixth inning. Senior ace Connor Cuff (3-0) yielded only two hits while fanning a career-high 12 batters.

Steve Heilenbach threw a complete game in Game 2 as the Lions rolled to a 12-2 victory. The Lions scored seven runs in the fifth and Rodemoyer hit his fourth homer this spring to ignite the offense.

RB boys track and field

Riverside-Brookfield took sixth place (44 points) at the Lake Forest Invitational on Saturday. The Bulldogsf 3200-meter relay team earned the highlight of the day, finishing first with a time of 8:21.20. In the 800-meter run, Alex Amaya placed third (2:04.60), while Keegan Buttimer (4:45.40) in the 1600 meter run and Kaylon Hutts (44.50) in the 300-meter hurdles each garnered a strong fourth place showing. Alex Huffhines tied New Trierfs Dan Smith for fifth place in the high jump with a leap of 5-7.

LT soccer

Lyons defeated Lincoln-Way Central 2-0 at the Naperville Invitational on Saturday. The Lions (11-2-1) advance to the quarterfinals of the prestigious event via their win over the Knights. Senior forward Sarah Michaels and Elise Gordon scored the LT goals, while goalkeeper Maggie Orlowski had six saves en route to her 10th shutout this season. Senior Coco Corrigan assisted Michaelsf goal.

Lyons also beat Naperville North 4-3 last week.
