Riverside will swear in the three winners of the uncontested April 5 election for village trustee at its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, May 2 at 7:30 p.m. at Riverside Township Hall, 27 Riverside Road.
Incumbent trustees Jean Sussman and Ben Sells were elected to their second terms in office, tallying 1,936 and 1,879 votes respectively. Newly elected Trustee Joseph Ballerine finished second with 1,932 votes. Ballerine is a former longtime member of the Riverside Parks & Recreation Board, which was dissolved in September 2010 to make way for an advisory commission.
All three candidates had been endorsed by the Riverside Community Caucus.
Leaving the board will be Trustee John Scully, who did not run for re-election. Scully, a retired major general in the U.S. Army Reserve, has served as a trustee since 2001, when he was appointed to the board to fill a vacancy created when Jack Wiaduck was elected president.
He was elected for his first full term in 2003 and re-elected in 2007.
