Adelaide A.M. “Babe” Tobias, 91, of Brookfield, died April 27, 2011 at her home.
A graduate of Hollywood School and a 1937 graduate of Riverside-Brookfield High School, she was married to Roger H. Tobias, who preceded his wife in death in June 1979.
She worked as an operator for the Illinois Bell Company and as a clerk/cashier at Fisher’s Pharmacy in Brookfield. She was a member of the Hollywood Citizens Association and was involved with the Hollywood School Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. She also enjoyed ballroom dancing, reading, playing cards and, in her younger years, roller skating.
Ms. Tobias is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Gary) Pluta; her sons, Toby (Jennifer) Tobias, Todd (Andrea) Tobias and Ted Tobias; her grandchildren, Cyndi (Mark) McCombs, Matthew (Laurann) Pluta, Jennifer (Brock) Warren and Samantha Tobias; and her great grandchildren, Caleb Warren, Caitlyn Pluta, Lily McCombs, Tess McCombs and Caroline McCombs.
Funeral services have been held. Memorial donations are appreciated to the American Heart Association.
