Lifelong Brookfield resident Jan E. DesJardins, 67, died May 10, 2011 after a battle with cancer at Family Centered Hospice at Alden Town Manor in Cicero.

Mr. DesJardins graduated from St. Barbara School in Brookfield in 1957 and from Lyons Township High School in 1961.

On Dec. 20, 1986, he married Pauline K. Bower in Glen Ellyn. He worked at Northern Trust Bank in Chicago for 38, retiring in 2002 as vice president/manager of computer operations.

An automobile enthusiast, Mr. DesJardins was a member and secretary of the No Name, Just Friends Car Club. He also enjoyed woodworking, fishing and boating, bowling, family gatherings and attending his grandchildren’s activities.

Mr. DesJardins is survived by his wife; his children, John (Christy) DesJardins, Matthew DesJardins and Martin (Anne) Bixby Jr.; his grandchildren, Kyle DesJardins, Amber DesJardins and Angelica Bixby; and his sister, Carol (Don) Musial. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Mildred DesJardins, and his brother, Ralph DesJardins.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Barbara Church in Brookfield on May 16, followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
