Russell R. Rohmann, 91, of Brookfield, died June 24, 2011 at his home.
Born July 13, 1919 in Chicago to Valentine and Ella Rohmann, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Rohmann was a technical sergeant in the 3134th Signal Service Company, attached to the Fifth Army in Egypt.
Following the war he was an executive in a graphic arts firm, but also made a mark locally as a volunteer nonprofit and government agencies. Mr. Rohmann was past president and treasurer of the Seguin Retarded Citizens Association, past president of the Brookfield Kiwanis Club and past chairman of the Brookfield Zoning Board of Appeals.
Mr. Rohmann is survived by his wife, Hilda B. Rohmann (nee Baldacci); his children, Margaret (the late Patrick) Kearney and Christine (John) Joniak; his grandchildren, Dan (Teresa) Joniak, Matt Joniak, David Joniak, Christina Joniak, Michelle Joniak, Beth Kearney, Mike Kearney and Mary Kearney; his great-grandson, Dean Joniak; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Jean Rohmann.
A funeral Mass was celebrated June 28 at St. Barbara Church in Brookfield, followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
