Melvin J. Charvat, 95, of Brookfield, died June 27, 2011 at The British Home in Brookfield.
Born on Aug. 21, 1915 in Chicago to John and Mayme Charvat, he served in the U.S. military during World War II. Following the war he worked as a machinist for a manufacturing company.
Mr. Charvat is survived by his wife, Gertrude A. Charvat (nee Lewandowski); his daughters, Diane (Alan) Blazek, Linda (Ken) Poteracki and Sandra (Dan) Nowakowski; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Vivian (the late Edward) Moticka.
A funeral service was held July 1 at Hitzeman Funeral Home, Brookfield, followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Forest Park.
