The Brookfield Public Library presents baseball historian Charles Billington and “Wrigley Field’s Last World Series: The Wartime Cubs and the 1945 Pennant” on Monday, July 11 at 7 p.m. at the library, 3609 Grand Blvd.

The program takes a look at the 1945 Cubs, the last of the franchise to play in a World Series – losing to the Hank Greenberg and the Detroit Tigers. Billington presents a look at baseball in Chicago during the war years as well as rare footage of the 1940s Cubs, including the 1945 World Series.
