As I said during my campaign and I’ll say it again: No tax increases for residents. I wanted to send the budget proposals back to the department heads for more cuts. The past board denied my request.
I wanted to cut the position of administrative assistant to the chief of police. It was denied, mostly because Mayor Krochmal’s wife holds that position. The recreation director is getting a part-time trip coordinator for $22,500 a year. That position works 25 hours a week and will receive full medical benefits plus an IMRF pension. Nice part-time job.
These are just a few cuts that I proposed before I vote on any tax increase on the residents of North Riverside. Also, the most important issue is that two of our trustees are getting full medical benefits for them and their families at a cost to the residents of $40,000 a year. So if you think the past board is looking out for your interests, think again.
