The LT Blazers 14U/Cahill team took first place at the 16U Summer Slam Tournament. The girls won all six games, while yielding just four runs.

The championship game pitted sister team, 14U LT Blazers against 16U LT Blazers. The 14U team came out victorious with a 9-3 win. Leah Nunez and Marina Gonzalez both had timely hits and impressive plays in the field for 14U. Katelyn Cahill played flawlessly at shortstop, while Katie Dzierwa laid down a key bunt and Alyssa Collins threw out several runners from third base.

In the semifinal game, the 14U defeated the 16U in a 1-0 pitcher’s duel. The 14U team scored their one run in the first inning. Kayla Morrissey drove in Stefanie D’Anna with a two-out triple.

Sarah Wilkosz made an outstanding play in the last inning to lead the Blazers to a 3-1 win over 16U Tinley Park in the opener. The centerfielder caught a fly ball and fired a throw home to catcher Carrie Reilly, who made a tag on a Tinley Park runner for a double play.
