Organizers of a fundraiser to benefit a Brookfield family expect more than 500 to attend the event, which is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 1 at Kiwanis Park, Arden and Brookfield avenues, from noon to 5 p.m.

Members of the public are invited to attend the Exceptionally Evan Fundraiser, which is being held to collect funds to help pay medical bills for Evan St. Paul, a 13-year-old Brookfield resident diagnosed this summer with brain cancer.

Friends and family began a fundraising push in early September with a meeting in Kiwanis Park to organize the Oct. 1 event. With just a week’s notice, 400 people turned out for the event, buying 600 “No one fights alone” bracelets and 200 T-shirts, which will also be available for sale at the Oct. 1 fundraiser.

The Exceptionally Evan Fundraiser will be held at the Kiwanis Park pavilion and will feature silent and live auctions, a raffle and a “Keys for a Cause” drawing for a chance to win a Sony Playstation 3 videogame system.

In addition there will be bean bag, volleyball and Wiffle ball tournaments, face painting and live entertainment. Food and beverages will also be for sale.

The Exceptionally Evan Foundation has been created for the family. For more information or to make a donation email
