The Brookfield Historical Society and the Chamber of Commerce are teaming up on Saturday, Oct. 29 to host the 13th Annual Monsters on Mainstreet trick-or-treat event in the village’s downtown and Eight Corners business districts.

The event will run from noon to 3 p.m. during which children are invited to trick-or-treat at businesses in the 3700 block of Grand Boulevard and along Broadway Avenue. Participating businesses will have a special Halloween pumpkin sign in their window.

Following trick-or-treating, there will be a refreshments, pumpkin and taffy apples giveaways and a costume contest at the Grossdale Station, 88201/2 Brookfield Ave.

Free taffy apples and pumpkins will be given away to the first 500 costumes trick-or-treaters beginning at 2:30 p.m. The costume contest, which will begin at 3 p.m., will have categories for scariest, funniest and most creative in four different age groups. Adults are welcome to participate in the contest.
