Longtime Brookfield resident Elsie L. Palicka, 89, died Oct. 25, 2011 at her daughter’s home in Frankfort.
Ms. Palicka had lived in Brookfield since 1953 and worked for seven years as a desk clerk at the Brookfield Post Office, retiring in 1981. She was also active at St. Barbara Parish as a member of the Council of Catholic Women, the Seniors Club and the Resurrection Singers.
In addition, she was a member and former historian and secretary of the Brookfield VFW Post #2868 Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the North Riverside VFW Post #6869 Ladies Auxiliary.
Ms. Palicka was preceded in death by her husband, Edward F. Palicka, on Aug. 7, 1989. She is survived by her son, James P. Palicka; her daughter, Maryann (Richard) Visin; her grandchildren, Steven Palicka, Michael Palicka, Patricia Jaros, Devora Ballo and Laura Visin; her great-grandchildren, Devin Jaros, Keegan Jaros and Elliot Ballo; and her sister, Rosemarie Kuhn.
A funeral Mass was held Oct. 31 at St. Barbara Church, followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery in Justice.
Memorial donations are appreciated to a charity of choice.
