Jonathan D. Rus, 21, of Brookfield, died on Nov. 7, 2011. Born on Jan. 4, 1990, he attended Havlicek School and Lincoln Middle School in Berwyn, as well as Hauser Junior High School in Riverside. Mr. Rus graduated from Riverside-Brookfield High School in 2008.
Mr. Rus actively participated in Sokol from the time he was a small child until the organization’s most district meeting on Nov. 6. He represented Sokol Brookfield, Sokol Tabor, and was currently a member of Sokol Town of Lake. He was employed by Sears and coached gymnastics at Niles North High School.
Mr. Rus is survived by his parents, Douglas Rus and Diane Barda-Rus; his sister, Jessica; his grandparents, Doris Barda and Blanche Rus; and other family members and friends.
Sokol service was held Nov. 11.
Linhart Funeral Home, Berwyn, handled arrangements.
