The Lyons Township boys basketball team lost a pair of games – 61-53 to Prospect and 65-56 to York – over the weekend.
Up eight points at halftime and playing well offensively against visiting Prospect on Saturday, the Lions (1-7, 0-2 West Suburban Silver) had their best look at snapping their losing streak. But a few spotty minutes in the third quarter by LT helped Prospect rally for the win.
Kenny Smith led LT with 18 points and Jarryd Heath, who has really come on lately with excellent outside shooting, scored 16 points. Mike Robare and Chris O’Reilly chipped in 10 points apiece.
Smith scored a team-high 15 points, Robare had 12 points and Heath added 11 points for LT against York.
“We played well offensively in the second half against York and most of the game against Prospect,” said LT coach Tom Sloan. “Although we haven’t been winning, our team has improved. Our players are working hard. Hopefully, the Tosh tournament can serve as a springboard to get us going well into the rest of our season.”
LT will compete in the 38th Annual Jack Tosh Holiday Classic at York held from December 27-30. The Lions take on Waubonsie Valley Dec. 27 (12 p.m.) in opening round action.
