Lyons Township head boys basketball coach Tom Sloan pointed to the Jack Tosh Holiday Classic hosted by York as hopefully a catalyst for the Lions to turn their season around. It’s still too early to tell if LT has permanently turned the corner, but four wins in six games since its opening tip off at Tosh is a very encouraging sign of progress.
The Lions cruised past host Waukegan 66-39 in a nonconference meeting on Saturday. Senior guard Kenny Smith scored 15 points and Matt Robare (11 points) and Jarryd Heath (10 points) also led the LT offensive attack. The Lions continued their recent pattern of much better play on the offensive end, highlighted by 7-for-16 marksmanship beyond the three-point arc.
LT also notched a 59-39 victory at Downers Grove North over the weekend as Smith poured in a game-high 19 points and junior Chris O’Reilly contributed 14 points
