Robert C. Husa, 85, a resident of Brookfield for more 71 years, died Jan. 12, 2012 at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.

Husa’s family moved to Brookfield in 1931. He attended S.E. Gross School and graduated from Riverside-Brookfield High School in 1944. After graduating from high school he joined the U.S Navy, serving throughout the remainder of World War II.

On April 7, 1951, Mr. Husa married Dorothy Knol at the First Congregational Church of Brookfield. The couple settled in the village and raised three children while Mr. Husa worked for 35 years as an equipment design engineer for Illinois Bell and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He retired in 1985 and continued to enjoy his hobbies of woodworking, fishing, reading and cooking.

Mr. Husa is survived by his wife, Dorothy K. Husa (nee Knol); his children, Robert K. (Rosemarie) Husa, Carol Kartje and Lorene (Larry) O’Connell; and his grandchildren, Nicholas, Elizabeth, Catherine, Charles, Margaret and Clare.

A funeral service was held Jan. 16 at Johnson Funeral Home, Brookfield, followed by interment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood.
