Richard A. Hartzel Sr., 85, of Brookfield died Jan. 28, 2012.
Mr. Hartzel served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was also a Master Mason, 3rd Degree, Sunrise Lodge #996 in Westchester, a member of the Scottish Rite in Chicago and member of the Dobrovsky Club.
He was the husband of Catherine “Kitty” (nee Preucil); father of Richard A. (Nyla) Hartzel Jr., Joseph Hartzel and Catherine Schultz; the grandfather of Britt Hartzel, Haley Hartzel and Matthew Schultz; brother of the late Joseph Hartzel Jr., Robert Hartzel and Lewis Hartzel; and uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m., with a Masonic service at 7 p.m., on Friday, Feb. 3 at Linhart Funeral Home, 6820 W. Cermak Road in Berwyn. A funeral service will be held Saturday, Feb. 4 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside.
