Freshman Kelsy Kurfirst continued her spectacular debut season by winning the all-around title at the Hinsdale Central Sectional last week. Kurfirst claimed all-around honors with first-place efforts in the uneven parallel bars (9.550), floor (9.575) and a share of first in the vault (9.725). Kurfirst also finished fourth in the balance beam with a score 9.050.

Powered by their precocious freshman, the Lions scored a 144.05, finishing ahead of their conference rival/sectional host Red Devils (138.950) to capture the sectional title.

The state finals begin on Friday at Palatine High School.
