Although the Lions fell short in their bid for a regional championship with a 54-37 loss to host Proviso West last week, LT basketball is clearly on the upswing. Coming off a 9-17 record in 2010-2011 under new head coach Katie Meyers, the Lions put together a solid 16-11 campaign this season.

After trailing Proviso West by double figures, LT pulled to within 30-27 courtesy of a 7-0 spurt midway through the third quarter. However, the Panthers responded with an 8-2 run early in the fourth quarter essentially closing the door on a very encouraging LT season.

“Obviously we really turned things around this season,” Meyers said, “and I think a lot of that can be attributed to our senior leadership. I’m proud of our team and really excited about next season.”

Junior Ashanti Davis paced the Lions with 15 points against Proviso West.
