Failla Realty has relocated its office to North Riverside, ending – for now at least, says Glenn Failla – a 32-year run in Brookfield.
The Failla real estate office is moving to 8905 Cermak Road. The company took on the lease on March 1, said Failla. It is a much smaller space than the 2,000-square-foot building the firm called home on Broadway Avenue in Brookfield. The reason for the move? The business relies much more heavily on technology than it used to, so lots of office space isn’t necessary.
“We really don’t need that much space anymore,” said Failla. “Ninety-nine percent of our business is now done out of the car or at home. We don’t need a big space, but we wanted to stay local.”
Failla has rented out its former home at 9140 Broadway Ave. to an attorney. While the company put the Brookfield building on the market back in September 2011, Failla said it’s not being actively shopped now that there is a tenant.
“In one to two years we’ll see how the real estate market goes, and maybe then we can move back in,” said Failla.
Failla said he didn’t want Brookfielders to misconstrue the company’s move as abandoning Brookfield.
“We want to make sure people know that, even though we’re moving next door, we still own the [Brookfield] building and are doing 100-percent real estate,” Failla said.
