Susan E. “Susie” Tutt-Parsons (nee Honath), 64, of Portage, Wis., and formerly of LaGrange Park and Westchester, died Feb. 25, 2012 at Divine Savior Healthcare in Portage.
Ms. Tutt-Parsons was born in Chicago on Nov. 23, 1947 to Clarence and Celia Honath. She married Alec Parsons, who survives his wife.
Known for a strong sense of community involvement, Ms. Tutt-Parsons was director of development for Helping Hand Rehabilitation Center. She was LaGrange Park’s village president from 2001 to 2005 and a village trustee from 1993-2001. She was also president of the West Suburban Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a past-president of the West Cook County Solid Waste Agency and a board member at Pets and Pals in LaGrange.
She was named the West Suburban Chamber’s Woman of the Year in 1993, received the group’s President’s Award in 2005 and served as chairman of the chamber’s board in 2002.
Ms. Tutt-Parsons is survived by her children, Joshua (Jamie) Tutt and Jillian Tutt; her stepson, Adam Parsons; and her granddaughter, McKenzie. She was preceded in death by her sister, Karen A. Brown.
A funeral Mass was celebrated March 3 at St. Francis Xavier Church in LaGrange, with interment at Resurrection Cemetery in Justice.
