Mathilda C. Gaynor (nee Thudium), 94, of Brookfield, died March 18, 2012 at the British Home.

Born on Dec. 14, 1917 in Elmwood Park to Carl and Marie Thudium, she married John Gaynor, who preceded his wife in death.

She was an avid gardener, entrepreneur and traveler, loved by her many nieces and nephews, neighbors and friends. She worked as a medical secretary prior to retirement.

Ms. Gaynor is survived by her niece, Marilynn Snider, of Chicago. She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Joseph (the late Lillian) Thudium, Ann (the late James) Domabyl, Christian (the late Ethel) Thudium and Mary Thudium.

She will lie in state on Wednesday, March 21 from 10 a.m. until the time of a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at Mater Christi Church, 2431 10th Ave. in North Riverside. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
